In 1997, Christopher Senior founded Smith Installations, initially focusing on CCTV and alarm system installations. The company’s trajectory took a significant turn in 2016 when Christopher Junior joined, and the duo sought new challenges and opportunities. Their search led to a pivotal moment in 2018 when Smith Solar was presented with a project to install a solar system on a shopping center roof in Cape Town. Despite facing a steep learning curve, the team successfully completed their first solar installation. By 2019, Smith Solar had made significant strides, completing its first 1-megawatt installation, marking a turning point in their journey. Since then, Smith Solar has expanded its portfolio to over 200 installations, including 80 petrol stations.
